Flood Safety Awareness Week March 19-23, 2007

According to a recent post in The Weather Guys blog, flood deaths continue to increase, while deaths by other weather-related events have declined. This week, Tempest Tossed will be highlighting the topic of floods and their effect on ordinary people. This article from The Herald Banner, Greenville, TX points out the need for better public education and the fact that real people caught unaware die needlessly from flooding: National Weather Service begins Flood Safety Week.

With better public education, community preparedness and government planning, hopefully we can get these flood deaths down.
